This Privacy Policy describes how Scanner Pro ("we", "our", or "the App") collects, uses, and protects your information. By using the App, you agree to the terms outlined in this policy.
1. Data Collection & Local Storage
We prioritize your privacy by keeping your data where it belongs: on your device.
- Scan History: All decoded QR and Barcode data is stored in a local SQLite database on your device. We do not transmit, store, or have access to your scan history.
- Manual Deletion: Users can delete their entire history or individual records at any time through the "History" section.
2. Firebase & Technical Services
To ensure application stability, manage updates, and comply with safety regulations, we use Google Firebase services:
- Firebase Authentication: Used securely to process age and identity verifications for specific regional legal compliance.
- Remote Config: Used to manage mandatory version updates, system notifications, and dynamic feature adjustments.
- Crashlytics: Collects anonymous crash reports to fix technical bugs.
- Analytics: Collects non-personally identifiable information to improve user experience.
3. Regional Regulations & Age Verification (SCOPE Act Compliance)
In strict compliance with regional safety acts, including the Texas Securing Children Online through Parental Empowerment (SCOPE) Act and related age-signal frameworks:
- Geographic & Age Signaling: The App automatically assesses regional data signals to determine if the user is operating within restricted territories or falls under minor/adult categories.
- The Google Sign-In Barrier: Users flagged within adult or undetermined risk profiles in these regions are explicitly required to complete a secure identity verification via Google Sign-In before accessing standard features.
- Minor Protection: For users verified or flagged as minors under the SCOPE Act, personalized advertising and tracking modules are permanently deactivated to protect user safety.
4. Advertising & User Consent (GDPR/UMP)
We use Google AdMob to serve ads. In compliance with international regulations, we use the Google UMP (User Messaging Platform) to ask for your permission regarding personalized advertising.
5. Permissions
The App requires Camera access for scanning, Storage for saving QR images, and Network access for updates/ads.
6. Android 15 & System Integrity
Scanner Pro is fully optimized for Android 15 (16 KB memory architecture) and respects all OS-level privacy sandboxes.
7. Data Security & Retention
Your primary data (scans) is stored locally. If you uninstall the App, all locally stored history is permanently deleted.
8. Updates
We may update this policy. The "Last Updated" date will always reflect the most recent changes.
